Nasha Sarkari and YJ Kim Crowned Champions at Dubai Duty Free Mixed Greensomes

The team of Nasha Sarkari (7) and Y.J Kim (3) were crowned Gross Champions in the Dubai Duty Free Mixed Greensomes Strokeplay event held at Arabian Ranches on Saturday, 3rd April 2010. The event attracted a competitive field of 25 teams. In this format both players tee off, the best positioned ball is selected and alternative shots are played from there until the ball is holed out. Each team received 3/8 of their combined handicaps as the allowance over the challenging desert styled links course. Men played from the blue tees at 6700 yards and ladies from the red tees at 5500 yards.

Sarkari & Kim started their round on the par 4 tenth hole and got off to a reasonable start posting three bogeys and no birdies on their outward nine for a gross 39. Their inward nine was more of a mixed bag that included two gross birdies as well as a double bogey seven on the third hole stopping their momentum. Sarkari & Kim closed out their round with a gross 40 for a total gross score of 79 two shots clear of runners up, Adele McKelvey & Tony Stroud on 81.

Dubai Duty Free’s Managing Director, Colm McLoughlin commented on the day, “We had a wonderful event at the Arabian Ranches Golf Club and we take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in the 5th Dubai Duty Free Mixed Greensomes, and look forward to seeing you all next year.”

The pair of Andre Coetzee and Rania Hage took the spoils in the Net division with an impressive net 68 to win by 1 shot from Paul and Carol Smith. Coetzee and Hage took their second Dubai Duty Free Mixed Greensomes crown since the Tournament was launched in 2006 in fine style posting a gross 83 playing with a handicap allowance of 15.
