The draw for Dubai Duty Free’s 130th Millennium Millionaire took place today (Tuesday) at Dubai International Airport producing the promotion’s 130th US$1 million winner, a thirty -four-year old Indian national, Sreeju Nambron.
The winning ticket no. 3480 was drawn by Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman of Dubai Duty Free and Salah Tahlak, Senior Vice President – Corporate Communications.
Mr. Nambron, who works for a construction company in Saudi Arabia, is the 54th Indian national to win a million dollars in the Millennium Millionaire promotion and was understandably in total shock when he first heard about his win.
Commenting on his initial reaction to the news, the lucky winner said: “I have participated in the Millennium Millionaire promotion for the last few years but nonetheless I was a little unsure when I received a call from Dubai Duty Free. I thought it was a joke but not until my details were read over the phone and then I realized that have just become a millionaire!”
The Millennium Millionaire Promotion was first introduced in 1999 and in its 13-year lifespan presented 130 US$1million cheques to the winners from all around the globe.
Following the Millennium Millionaire, two more winners were announced in Dubai Duty Free’s Finest Surprise Promotion, with each one winning a luxury vehicle.
Mr. Elamthuruthi Joseph Robinson, an Indian national living in Bahrain won a Mercedes Benz S500 in Series 1494 with ticket no. 0261. Mr. Robinson has been buying Finest Surprise tickets for many years and couldn’t believe that his lucky day had arrived.
Lady Luck shone on another Indian national today Mr. Ghayour Mohammad Khan, a forty-nine-year old businessman from New Delhi who won the latest model of a BMW 750Li Executive in Series 1495 with ticket no. 0961.
Another winner of the day was Mr. Samer Sarraf, a Dubai-based French national who won his dream motorbike, a Ducati Superbike 848 Evo just a few days before celebrating his thirty sixth birthday. Mr. Sarraf was ecstatic upon hearing the news as he now can switch his Honda CBR to a brand new Ducati model. Mr. Sarraf won his motorbike in Series 196 with ticket no. 0601.
A presentation to previous Finest Surprise winners also took place today.
Mr. Louay Urfali, a British national living in Dubai, whose ticket no. 1802 was drawn in Series 1492 a few weeks earlier, was presented with a Bentley Continental Flying Spur, the most luxurious and desirable car in the world.
Mr. Urfali was clearly smitten by his Bentley and commented: “I am the luckiest person on earth to have won such a fantastic car! I am delighted to meet the Dubai Duty Free team today and would like to thank the company, who created this ‘full of surprises’ promotion”.
Another lucky winner, Mr. Sikke Jan Wynia, a Dubai-based Dutch national stood proudly next to his brand new Porsche Panamera 4 (Dark Blue Metallic), which he won in Series 1493 with ticket no. 0463. A forty-seven-year old General Manager of Lamprell Energy, Mr. Wynia was overjoyed after receiving the keys for his beautiful car.
